Spring Term 2 & Summer 1: Potion Commotion

Our third topic is... a magical topic: Potion Commotion.

This topic's book study is J K Rowling's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. All our English revision for the SATs tests in May will have this book as its central theme. In art and design we will create our own magic wands using polymer clay and then in computing we will make spreadsheets for Mr Olivander's wand shop.

In science we will learn about different states of matter and how to mix and separate solutions and mixtures using magnets, filter paper and sieves.

Homework

Year 6 will be coming home with some past SATs papers to look at with someone at home. There may be a few arithmetic questions to retry or perhaps a punctuation or grammar questions to have another go at. But the most important thing to do for homework at this stage is to read! The more frequently Year 6 read, the greater their resilience and vocabulary.
